SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an email security system, that is used to validate if an e-mail message is sent by a certified server. Using SPF protection for a domain will prevent the faking of email addresses made with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this function for a domain name makes a specific record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which contains the IP addresses of the servers that are allowed to send e-mails from mail boxes under the domain. When this record propagates globally, it exists on all the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. When some e-mail message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses verifies whether it originates from an authorized server. When it does, it is sent to the destination address, yet when it doesn't originate from a server listed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it is discarded. Thus nobody will be able to mask an email address and make it appear as if you are sending spam. This method is also identified as email spoofing.
SPF Protection in Shared Hosting
SPF protection can be activated for each domain hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud platform with no more than a couple of mouse-clicks. The feature is accessible in the Emails section of our hi-tech Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to use it is to choose one of your domains from a drop-down list and to enter the hostnames and the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers which will be authorized to send emails from your email addresses. As an additional option you can even restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain name only if it includes our MX records, in other words when our servers handle the email addresses for it, not some third-party supplier. This solution provides you with the best standard of safety, but it is not applicable in case only your website is on our servers while your email addresses for the domain are taken care of elsewhere. In either case, our SPF protection service will keep your emails protected from being used for spam or scam purposes.
SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers
The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with all our semi-dedicated servers, provides you with a really easy-to-use interface to enable the SPF protection service for each domain name that you host inside your new account. Just a few clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia will be enough for that and you will only have to enter the hostname and the IP address of the mail server which will be permitted to send messages from your emails. If the emails are taken care of on our end and not by some other provider, you're able to raise the security level even more and benefit from an option for all the outgoing emails to be sent only if your domains include our MX records. This option gives you more control and it'll eliminate any chance of anybody forging your emails with the purpose of spamming and / or scamming people. It is not applicable in case just your site is hosted on our state-of-the-art cloud web hosting platform, while your e-mail addresses are managed by another service provider. If you aren't sure what options to pick, our technical support team will assist you 24/7.
